I was lucky enough to have traveled to Belgium this summer and felt a huge connection to the town Ypres, which is just a few miles away from Paschendale where so many 10's of thousands of British troops died in WW1. Glad the last surviving soldier was honored as the true hero that he was. RIP Harry Patch and all our other troops who fought and died during or after 'The Great War'. Have allot of stuff going on right now, Lindsays grandfather passing last week, Lindsays head trauma and my own grandmother in Intensive care. Anyone would think we did something really bad recently for Karma to be inflicting these things upon us. Must remember to be nice to everyone the next few days and not stomp on spiders.

We were woken last night by an awesome Monsoon storm, close thunder / lightning and a few hours of rain. Really cleared the air, from the Weather radar it looks like it might be shaping up for another evening of storms which is cool.

News from the Family back home seems to suggest that my Grandma is now on Life Support in intensive care and tomorrow has more tests on her lungs. Living 5,500 miles away from home and not really being in the loop is very disheartening at times like these. The various reports from family on Facebook often conflict with each other. I was glad I got to speak to my Dad & Sister today for news. If I prayed (Which I don't) my prayers would certainly be with my grandma right now.
....Continued at my blog @ www.rholgate.com

Crazy day yesterday.

Had a bit of a crazy day yesterday, started the day by panicking about Lindsays Staph infection and heading to the Er, then it was a mad rush to get to Lindsays Dads house to be with the family after the death of her grandfather. Not your average weekend by any means.

Heard news from my family back home that my Gran is taking a turn for the worse in Hospital and has Pneumonia, I hope she pulls through. It was lovely to see her just a few weeks ago and she seemed to be doing really well back then. Starting to prepare a little for the worst, discussed flying back to the UK if she doesn't make it, will be pretty pricey tho at short notice - so hopefully British Airways has a Bereavement / Family Emergency type allowance. Hoping to see my dad online later to see what he has to say, I believe they may also have visited her at hospital over the weekend.
....Continued at my blog @ www.rholgate.com

Lindsays Staph infection

Currently sitting in an exam room at the ER with Lindsays and her swollen face, sounds promising that she isn't going to be admitted. Not that I have a problem with them trying to save whales, I think they are just going about it all wrong. Plus he has zero lack or respect for the lives of his very young crew. I also think that last years alleged shooting was faked, the fact that he just happened to be wearing a bullet proof jacket is just to much of a coincidence. This guy is after any publicity he can get. What they really need to do is blow the fucking Nisshin Maru the hell out of the water, few pallets of TNT floated up to the thing should do the job. I love how Facebook has allowed me to contact long lost family, who I would never have been in contact with and am unfortunately way to addicted to the Mafia Wars game. Yet that's what the evil Facebook corporation wants, they want this application to become peoples lives. They want you to depend on this thing so much, that they know every intimate detail about your life & internet usage. The data these people already have on their users is huge. If anyone is ever going to knock Google off of their thrown as the #1 internet site, then Facebook will be it. If I were Google I'd be very concerned about anything Facebook does, of course Microsoft saw this and have invested heavily in Facebook, much to Googles disgust.

As for Twitter - I'm not really sure why I even bother, it's so weird how only posting 140 characters of text has become so popular. I've tried to embrace it like some of my friends have, but just don't find it anywhere near as appealing as Facebook.

Anyway, I've decided to try and make a real effort to blog daily here. Rather than contributing so heavily to Facebook & Twitter and this is my first attempt. Enjoy.
....Continued at my blog @ www.rholgate.com
