Happy Birthday to Me
Today is my birthday, the Digital Rebel XTI is down at the moment as it zapped its batteries, as tends to do when left with the battery pack hooked up for a while. So I had to snap a couple of pictures of my presents with the old Canon Powershot G6. A fine point and shoot camera in itself.
As has become the norm in the Holgate family, well for me at least - I purchased my own gifts in advance of the big day today. First on the list was my new Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum revolver (Below). Been drooling over this fine firearm at Scottsdale Gun Club for the last 6 months and finally purchased it yesterday, after being offered a very sweet deal by the salesman. Planned upgrades include a new front sight as the black front sight just doesn't cut it. Put 50 rounds through her yesterday and the nice .357 BOOM!! turned a few heads.

I also invested in a new Network Media Player. I was torn between several options - Mac Mini, Apple TV, HTPC and then right around the time I was finally going to start building the HTPC, a colleague James found these units manufactured by a Korean company named Divco. To I took the plunge and ordered a Divco TVIX M-6500A (http://www.tvix.co.kr/Eng/products/HDM6500A.aspx)
You can see her below - sitting on top of my XBox 360. My first impressions of the unit are very good, it's played everything I've thrown at it - 1080p High Def streaming over the network and from the 750gb Samsung Hard Drive I installed in her. ISO, Mpeg, MP3 audio - the user interface could be a little more desirable and the network setup wasn't very intuitive, but all in all for $400 it's fantastic.
